We visited the beautiful archeological site of the Temple of Apollo at Bassas. It was stunning to see such a well-preserved temple. But at the end the biggest impression made on us was by this poor, skinny doggy which we called Apollina. We shared our lunch with her. We did an 8 km hike through Lousios Gorge to New Philosophou Monastery. It was a truly awesome day - sun, springs streams and waterfalls everywhere, no phone reception to distract me from enjoying the place. We had a picnic 🧺 with us took water from the stream and almost fostered a ginger cat 🐈. Days like this create special memories. I bet our legs will be sore tomorrow - as there was lots of climbing up and down. I have recently been seeing lots of articles on the web about children with problems due to excessive screen time and reduced contact with their parents. Luckily it’s not our problem. We drag our kids outside, or rather they drag us outside, no matter the weather. Now it’s raining ☔️ on and off and quite cold as we are 1000m above sea level, but we continue hiking through villages and gorges. Zoe prefers the gorges as she can use her sling shot 😂. Hiking through mountain village Lagkadia. Which we discovered by accident and stayed here for two nights - we loved this place so much. most of the of the houses are empty over the winter period. I cannot believe that in 10 days time girls will turn 10. 10 years ago when you see me it would be belly, then boobs then me. I was just about to become a mother and haven’t have slightest idea how to do this job. I still don’t know if I know but I know that important thing is to love them, support them and let them be themselves but not to forget about yourself and your dreams, because how can kids thrive and follow their dreams if you don’t follow yours? Someone asked me about the difference between homeschooling and worldschooling. I thought about that today as we were discussing sixteen stautes of Zeus in the ancient stadium of the ancient Olympics. These statues lined the athletes’ entrance to the stadium and were paid for by fines levied on cheating competitors. Then we went into the stadium for our own race. Tonight’s lesson will be about Greek mythology. Where better to learn about that than in Olympia after visiting the ancient site and its magnificent museum? . Greece started for us very difficult. After great 16 hours ferry crossing we landed in Patras where Nick phone got very cheeky stolen out of our camper. We had a small stop at the seaside parking. Nick was snoozing on front seat with phone charging on the other seat. And some guy went inside and stole the phone. Zoe who was playing outside chase him by he still manage to grab the phone. So one phone is gone :( Next day we stuck twice in the muddy camping. Last day in Italy we spent in Lecce. In the evening we will get the ferry ⛴ to Greece. . Coincidentally today is Santa Nicholas day and we visited Saint Nicholas church where is his burial place. . .
